Lance -
I haven’t checked in on your blog in a while (sorry, I’ve been juggling my blogroll and you must have fallen off – I just added you back), so I’m just reading the news about your wife and Grandfather. First of all, my condolences regarding your Grandfather. And I wish you and your lovely wife Jen all the best, my thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Hi Lance -

I'm new to your blog but happened upon it today. I too have (had?) thyroid cancer -- my thyroid was removed just 3 days ago. You know the follow-up drill, I'm sure.

We're lucky for the availability of today's top notch medical care and treatments. Please give my best to Jen. She sounds like a wonderful person. You're lucky to have each other.

Thanks for sharing this, and the campaign to raise the money for ACS. I will link to that and this post at some point this week. My grandmother died of cancer about five years ago. I would say "stay strong" but I know you and Jen both will. You're both in my prayers.

Thanks for sharing Lance. Having just been through this with my father (brain cancer) I learned that it help to have a little humor about it. Traditional chemo treatments dont typically work for brain cancer since for some reason it can not make it to the brain. My dad solution was to mix it with a little Wild Turkey because that always seemed to get up to his brain.

Also dont read a whole lot of the medical studies. They do not write with compassion and some of the facts are just tough.

Be strong for your wife and help her kick this thing in the A! God bless.

I commend your deviation today, Lance, and your recognition of Jen's strength and courage. In the next few months, I will be leaving corporate america and returning to a previous career as a Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in oncology massage. Complimentary therapies are now recognized in the mainstream western medical profession as an important adjunct to the overall treatment plan for cancer patients. Education and financial support for research are definitely worth fighting for. Thank you for sharing your personal experience. Wishing you, Jen, and everyone good health and well-being.
