Tiffany over at the Magic Pot of Jobs has given me a shoutout and although there is no obligation to return the favor, “MPOJ” is one of those sites I visit frequently. There seems to be this rift of misunderstanding between agencies and internal recruiters (mainly with internal recruiters). I always found that hard to believe, especially as the big picture HR guy. When my department’s resources are devoted heavily towards a project or a single division, other divisions do not cease to have job openings and needs. An agency is a total pay-for-performance, get what you pay for, outsourcer for those times of need. Internal recruiters might not like the competition but I can thank agencies for getting me out of a couple jams and I happily cut that check. It was worth every penny. I don’t think that internal recruiters will ever be eliminated but there will always be a need for effective agencies.
Call it the voyeur in me but I like to keep track of what is going on in that world. Tiffany gives a nice, real feel to her commentary and she has situations that any HR person can appreciate.
